Young actor, Song Joong Ki, fresh from the tele-series, “ Sungkyunkwan Scandal”, recently visited Singapore. There was a swarm of adoring fans awaiting his arrival at the press conference in Shaw Tower, on the May 27, 2012.
(Singapore=Koreanpress) by John Kim = This is Song’s first Asian tour, though it is his third visit to Singapore. Close to 650 of Song fanatics giggled, squealed and blushed in the crowd. They were ecstatic as he shared his acting experiences in periodic dramas and variety shows. He also revealed some of his future plans.
He acknowledged that it was the Korean tele-series, “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” that made him a household name. No wonder then it is his favorite. Although he is still young, with a not very big bag of acting roles, Song is not reluctant to try more demanding characters. He feels it will assist in the improvement of his talent and thereby help him take on a variety of roles in the future.
Besides dramas, he is recognized as a very capable co-host and MC. In fact it was this that gave him his big break on a weekly musical programme, way back in his hometown.
He enjoys being a host, finding it most enjoyable as it gives him the opportunity to meet famous female Korean groups. Aside from being known as “brainy Joong”, Song was also nick-named as “pretty flower boy.” He earned this title during a particular “Running Man” variety show segment. He explained that this variety show had taught him almost everything. There was the added bonus of goofing with his other group members, such as Jong Kook hyung and Gwangsoo.
Although, Song has been put on a pedestal and is at the height of his career, he makes sure his feet are firmly planted on the ground. This is reflected by his show of kindness and affection to his hundreds of fans. Constantly waving to them, even though looking very tired, and giving his fans a lot of flying kisses and hi-5’s, letting them know how much he cares for his Singapore fans. So when “Sungkyunkwan Scandal 2” hits our television screen, you can bet his adoring fans will be glued to their television screen, yet again.
