Due recognition given to players in the medical tourism fields.

The winning Malaysian contigent.

(Kuala Lumpur=Koreanpress) Liu Lai Keen =The International Medical Travel Journal (IMTJ) has rewarded the very best performers in medical tourism with the IMTJ Medical Travel Awards.

This inaugural event recognizes the improvement and innovation these winners have brought to not only medical travel, but also to medical tourism and the health tourism industry as a whole.

Breaking away from the norm of the previous awards, the IMTJ awards this time around have been judged by an independent panel of medical travel experts, chaired by IMTJ Managing Editor, Keith Pollard.

He presented the awards on March 5, 2014 at a glittering reception in Dubai during the International Medical Travel Exhibition and Conference. This high profile function brought together the pre-eminent providers and experts in medical travel and medical tourism.

Out of the ten awards listed, Malaysia had the sole distinction of grabbing three of them. The rest of the winners only took home one award each. This certainly speaks volumes for the standard of Malaysia’s medical tourism when compared with the rest of the world.

Pollard commented at the awards ceremony,“Medical travel is an exciting and growing global industry, with many providers delivering excellence in both medical care and customer service.

The IMTJ Medical Travel Awards are the first independent awards to recognise those who are the best of the best and hopefully to encourage others to emulate them. The judges wanted to reward innovation and excellence, highlight best practice and celebrate those who are leading the way in the industry and delivering successful outcomes for patients.”

He went on to add,”“All our winners exemplify the way the medical tourism industry should be run – professional, offering exceptional patient care and providing the best possible medical outcomes.

I’m already looking forward to next year’s awards in the hope that other clinics and companies will have raised their game to match or even better this year’s winners.”
