(Kuala Lumpur=Koreanpress)  by Azmi Anuar = It was to ensure that Malaysia will achieve an inclusive and sustainable growth as well as build a competitive, progressive and a morally strong nation, with a society that is united. The end game plan however, remained the same. This was for Malaysia to move towards a high income advanced economy based on knowledge, research, high skills, expertise, creativity and innovation.

An investment of RM6.7 billion by Khazanah Nasional Berhad in nine high-impact domestic projects in sectors such as healthcare, education, tourism as well as communication soft-ware and infrastructure will set the tone for investments next year.

Johor is set to gain much from these sectors. A start has already been made with the development of hotels and leisure products in Desaru which will have a positive impact on the tourism sector. The announcement of incentives, the extension of income tax exemption to tour operators and the introduction of online visa application will give a further boost for tourism in the state.

The building of an oil and gas hub in Pengerang will ensure the state enters into high-value productions.

With the opening of Gleneagles Medini last November as well as a new public hospital to be built in Pasir Gudang, the pace has been set for private and public healthcare developments.

The Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) is working closely with Khazanah and Multimedia Development Corporation to bring in more companies in the creative ecosystem by leveraging on the growing reputation of Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios which is now seeing the production of second season Netflix’s Marco Polo.

IRDA is also working closely with i2M in their marketing and promotional activities to bring in new investments in the financial and services sectors.

Iskandar Malaysia is currently making good progress in various social programmes such as Kawan Iskandar Malaysia, Sungai Melayu Eco Tourism Projects and IM Coop. This s expected to make Iskandar Malaysia an ideal location to roll out more programmes and initiatives that would directly benefit the people of Johor.

In conclusion, the 2016 Budget is set to stage the initiatives under Iskandar Malaysia’s enhanced Comprehensive Development Plan.
